Stop fantasising body shaming!

In 2018 it still blows our mind that women and men are still objectified to body shaming! Recently a new Netflix trailer has been dropped for the upcoming release of a the new body shaming series 'Insatiable'. Not only is the concept outdated and derogatory it simply glorifies fat shaming!

However, thankfully activist/artist @florencegiven has started up an incredible petition to stop the show in its tracks. The petition to 'Stop the Release of Netflix's Body-Shaming series 'Insatiable'' already has an outstanding 174,273+ signatures and has drawn attention worldwide.

"For so long, the narrative has told women and young impressionable girls that in order to be popular, have friends, to be desirable for the male gaze, and to some extent be a worthy human...that we must be thin. The toxicity of this series, is bigger than just this one particular series. This is not an isolated case, but part of a much larger problem that I can promise you every single woman has faced in her life, sitting somewhere on the scale of valuing their worth on their bodies, to be desirable objects for the male gaze. That is exactly what this series does. It perpetuates not only the toxicity of diet culture, but the objectification of women's bodies."

This petition has created an uproar as it is simply disgusting to showcase that the only way to be happy/have friends/be popular is to be "skinny". Airing such a poisonous show will create a catastrophic domino effect on young girls mental health if the narrative of fat shaming continues in such shows. The pressure on young girls is already bad enough, no longer should they be taught to idolise certain body types, facial features or skin tones, women are so much more than that! Teach young girls to work hard, be accepting and to be kind! Too often mental health/confidence is destroyed which leads to mental health complications such as, bulimia, binge eating and even to the sad extremes of suicide. Fat shaming is a serious issues and its time we start focusing on mental health and working on acceptance, as in 2018 do we really need to be looking down on someone because they are "fat"?! Hell No! We should be praising every women and man, we should be uniting against negative causes and beginning to use our voices for good. So make sure you follow the link below, learn more about this cause and sign the petition!!! And always remember you a not defined by the way you look!

Shout out to all the incredible women embracing their bodies and spreading positivity and love, here are a few we are obsessed with!
