This weeks Confetti Artist of the week goes to Humberto Cruz AKA @Iscreamcolour !! We have been obsessed with Humberto's sassy illustrations for such a long time, we are so happy to be able to make him Artist of the Week as well as a short interview getting to know him and his art in more depth. - Enjoy! xx

'Hi! my name is Humberto and I'm an illustrator/graphic designer based in San Diego, California.  I don't know how to drive, I'm listening to music or watching music videos most of the time, I'm single, love chocolate ice cream and my favorite color is blue.'

When and where did you first start drawing and how did you develop into your style?

I started drawing when I was very young,  I was obsessed with the Spice Girls (especially Baby Spice!) in the 90's and I used to draw them all the time.  That's how I became interested in pop culture in general.

My style hasn't changed a lot (maybe a little?).  I still use markers and pens to draw, but I enjoy doing digital illustrations as well.

Where do you get inspiration from and who are your favorite illustrators?

Pop culture and fashion.  Andy Warhol, Matisse and Keith Haring are my inspiration.  Because of their vibrant, colorful art.

What's your favorite illustration and why?

The "Supermodel" illustration with Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer.  They represent 90's fashion and they are the original Supermodels.

What is your plan next and what is your biggest future goal?

No big plans at the moment, but thinking positive that a fun, exciting project will come some day.   Biggest goal is to see my work on a t-shirt or work on merchandise for a pop star!

What advice would you give to any inspiring artists?

Don't let people tell YOU, you're not going to make it as an artist, that you have to choose a different career, blah!  Those words hurt, but you keep drawing! Inspiration is everywhere and  enjoy doing what you love.
